نوروز سال گذشته این افتخار را داشتم که دل مادر و خواهر مصطفی کریم بیگی، جانباز روزهای سهمگین سال ۸۸، را شاد کنم. این عزیزان میهمان من و مهشید بودند و آنها را از نزدیک ملاقات کردیم. این روزها شنیدم که این مادر جوان از دست داده و زجر کشیده را دستگیر کرده اند. خواهش می‌کنم همگی به وجدانمان مراجعه کنیم و از خودمان سوال کنیم، آیا این مادر جایش در زندان است؟ چرا و به چه جرمی؟ خانم شهناز اکملی و بسیاری دیگر از شیر زنان ایران به شما افتخار می‌کنیم، به یادتان هستیم. جای شما در اجتماعی آزاد و در کنار خانواده هایتان است، نه زندان.

Last year I had the honor to put a smile on the faces of Mostafa Karim Beigi his mother and sister. He was one of the young men who lost their life in the horrific days of 1388 (year 2009). Mahshid and I got to meet them in person as our dear guests.
I have heard this mother who lost her beloved son has been arrested.
I want all of us to ask ourselves the following question. Does she really deserve to be in prison? Why? For what crime?
Mrs Shahnaz Akmali and many other brave women of Iran, we are so proud of you and you are in our thoughts. You deserve to live in a free society beside your family and not in prison.
