رسیدن قیمت دلار به ۲۰۰‌ هزار تومان، حاصل یک تغییر یک‌شبه نیست، بلکه نتیجه دهه‌ها ماجراجویی سیاسی و نظامی، سیاست خارجی پرهزینه و مدیریت اقتصادی ناکارآمد است که ارزش پول ملی ایران را به شکلی فاجعه‌بار کاهش داده است.

در این میان، هزینه این سقوط را نه صاحبان قدرت، که مردم عادی می‌پردازند؛ مردمی که هم‌زمان زیر فشار سنگین اقتصادی، تورم و کاهش قدرت خرید و نیز سرکوب سیاسی و اجتماعی زندگی می‌کنند. موشک‌هایی که قرار است دلار را هدف بگیرند، در نهایت فشار بیشتری بر همان مردمی وارد می‌کنند که تاوان سیاست‌هایی را می‌دهند که نقشی در تصمیم‌گیری درباره‌ آنها نداشته‌اند.

The missiles supposedly aimed at bringing down the dollar ultimately do nothing but place an even heavier burden on the people caught underneath them—people who are paying the price for policies they had no role in shaping.
