سال‌هاست که “وطن پرستی” در چارچوب تبلیغات حکومت به دفاع بی‌چون و چرا از سیاست‌های تهاجمی و ماجراجویانه نظام تبدیل شده است. رویکردی که پیامدهایی سنگین چون تحریم، جنگ، تلفات جانی و مالی برای ایران به همراه داشته است. این در حالی است که بدون درک و درمان ریشه‌های جنگ و بحران فعلی نمی‌توان کمکی به ثبات و آرامش پایدار کشور کرد. این که حکومت ۴۵ سال سیاست‌های جنگ‌طلبانه و تحریک‌آمیز در پیش گیرد و مردم را در موقعیت‌های بحرانی قرار دهد و در مقابل از آنها انتظار مقاومت و تحمل یا همراهی صرف در برابر مهاجمان داشته باشد، مبنایی منطقی ندارد.
For years, the regime’s propaganda has redefined patriotism as unconditional support for its aggressive and reckless policies—an approach that has brought Iran crippling sanctions, war, and immense human and economic losses.

Yet lasting peace and stability cannot be achieved without recognizing and addressing the root causes of the current conflict. A government that has pursued aggressive and war-driven policies for 45 years, repeatedly placing its own people in dangerous situations, has no logical basis for expecting them to simply endure the consequences or stand behind it whenever the country comes under foreign attack.
