I am proud to announce that my daughter, Farah, has been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Students of the Year Campaign. Here is her ask: "For seven weeks, starting January 18, 2020, students across the country will be raising funds and awareness in support of LLS's mission to cure blood cancers, and I will be representing my school and the DC Metro Area. Our team goal is to raise $150,000 between January 18 and March 7. This number is a lofty goal, but I am willing to work hard to reach it. I cannot do it alone; I need your help. I was inspired to join this campaign after watching my mother, @Yasmine.Pahlavi, go through breast cancer treatment after her diagnosis in November 2018. Through the work of LLS, I can see how the treatments have evolved, and while my mom is doing great now, that is not the case for so many others with cancer. LLS is at the forefront of cancer research. In the last two years alone, LLS has helped fund 45 of the 51 new and approved cancer treatments, not just for blood cancers but all cancers, including my mom’s.
